Prior to joining Ravix, he was part of the management team at The Coral Reef Alliance and at Earth Innovation Institute, as the Director of Finance and Operations/HR. At these NGOs he worked with teams around the world to keep coral reefs healthy to help them adapt to climate change, and to promote sustainable rural development that conserves rainforests. He has worked with multilateral agencies like UNDP, Norad, IKI, federal agencies and Foundations.
Before joining the nonprofit sector, Gautam spent 20 years in investment banking as a Managing Director in Equity Capital Markets at Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank and Salomon Brothers. He specialized in corporate finance advisory, convertible bond financing and equity derivatives, primarily in the Technology sector. Some of his largest clients included Intel, Micron Technology, LSI Logic, McAfee, Infineon AG, STMicroelectronics, British Telecom, Actelion, Richemont, and ASMI.
Gautam regularly volunteers his time supporting nonprofits and currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of PSE Healthy Energy.
Gautam is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s dual-degree Management & Technology Program with a B.S.E. in Computer Science from the Engineering School and a B.S.Econ. in Finance from the Wharton School of Business.
When not devising new models and providing strategic insights to his clients or mentoring finance teams, Gautam can be found perfecting his bread and pizza dough recipes, refining his acting skills at Berkeley Rep’s School of Theater, or on the slopes skiing and on the tennis court. He lives in Piedmont with his son and daughter and their shorthaired pointer, Fulton.
